Update: I just got the Logmein plugin update for Firefox 5.
The plugin now works out of the box.
(You can update the plugin when you start a logmein session).
This morning I got the new Firefox 5 update.
As a ‘heavy’ Logmein user I immediately noticed that the Logmein plugin was disabled under Firefox 5.
It is not possible to enable the plugin because it is ‘not compatible’.
Luckily there is a way to enable the so-called non-compatible Firefox plugins.
This can be done by installing the ‘nightly tester tools’.
Here is the instruction:
- Start Firefox 5
- Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nightly-tester-tools/
- In the middle of the page there’s a green button called ‘Add to Firefox’
- Click on it and allow the plugin to install
- Go to the orange Firefox button in the upper left corner
- Left mouse click on it and select the ‘nightly tester tools’ and select ‘force addon compatibility’
- Go to the orange Firefox button in the upper left corner
- Left mouse click on it and select ‘add-ons’
- Check if the ‘Logmein, Inc. Remote Access Plugin’ is enabled
- If not you can enable the plugin
- You probably have to restart Firefox to activate the plugin
Beware that enabling ‘non-compatible’ Firefox plugins can cause some instability.
You can limit the risks by only enabling the non-compatible plugins that you absolutely need.
I did not encounter any stability issues with the ‘Logmein, Inc. Remote Access Plugin’ and Firefox 5.
When you do have issues please post a comment.
Best regards,
